Roza Signs the Urban Giants 2025 Manifesto: Graffiti, Identity, and Connections
The energy of CREACTION Milano continues to expand, supporting art and youth expression through the Burberry Inspire program, a global initiative promoted by Burberry Group plc, The Burberry Foundation, and the International Youth Foundation (IYF). This year, the project takes a step further by forming a synergy with Urban Giants, the graffiti festival that annually transforms Trezzano sul Naviglio into an open-air art gallery.
Founded by the WeRunTheStreet association, Urban Giants has become an international benchmark for street art, attracting around 200 artists from across the globe. The walls of Trezzano explode with colors and stories, evoking the spirit of iconic locations such as the Berlin Wall and Miami’s Wynwood Art District. Beyond technique and talent, the selected artists bring an added value: the ability to foster a global cultural dialogue, creating connections between the audience and the ever-evolving frontiers of urban art.
For the 2025 edition, scheduled from June 6 to 8, the official manifesto will be designed by Roza, a 25-year-old artist. Her work will be unveiled soon, but in the meantime, we spoke with her to learn more about her journey and the vision that guided her creation.
Hi Roza, how have your experiences and background influenced your style and creative vision?
I studied graphic design, which helped me develop various technical skills, though it didn’t directly shape my style. However, it provided me with a strong foundation in graphic software, tools I now use to develop my projects. My real artistic journey began after university when I discovered spray paint. From that moment, I immersed myself in the world of street art while also exploring tattooing, refining my personal style in both disciplines. My style is constantly evolving—I see it as an endless exploration.
What has been your biggest challenge as a young artist?
The biggest challenge has been myself. For years, I struggled with low self-esteem and doubted my abilities. Things are better now, but it’s an ongoing journey. I always strive to improve and to appreciate every small step forward.
How did you become part of the Urban Giants 2025 project?
A year ago, I had the incredible opportunity to paint at Urban Giants alongside my friend Mr. Pollo. This year, I was honored with the task of creating the official festival manifesto—a huge privilege! I also hope to leave my mark on one of the event’s walls.
What inspired the concept of the manifesto?
I was inspired by the small animals that inhabit the festival area, cared for by both locals and visitors. I wanted to give them a hip-hop energy, enriching the illustration with elements tied to the graffiti world. The message I want to convey is that you don’t need to be physically big to accomplish great things—you can be a giant if you truly believe in it!
Did you incorporate elements that reflect your culture or personal experience into the manifesto?
The characters I paint often have a friendly appearance, vibrant colors, and soft shapes, always conveying a positive energy. I maintained this style in the manifesto while infusing it with details inspired by hip-hop culture and graffiti writing.
In your opinion, how can art tell stories or address social and personal issues?
Art, in all its forms, not only highlights social issues but can also spark debate and inspire change. Additionally, like any passion, it has a therapeutic effect and plays a crucial role in personal well-being.
If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would you choose and why?
It might sound cliché, but I appreciate every artist I have the chance to collaborate with. 2024 has been an incredible year in this regard, and I’m truly grateful. If I had to name a few, I’d say Mr. Plustik from Switzerland—an artist with a fresh talent and unique approach, whom I had the pleasure of painting with. I also hope to work again with my longtime graffiti companion, Teetos, as our styles blend perfectly.
In 2025, I want to paint as much as possible because every new artist I meet is a source of inspiration. I really hope to paint again with the great MisterPollo at Urban Giants! If you’re reading this, get ready!
What advice would you give to a young artist looking to follow a path similar to yours?
Work on your style, always stay humble, and celebrate every small success. Don’t do it for money or fame, or you risk losing the magic. Don’t let doubts hold you back, and never underestimate others. Most importantly, remember that there is always something new to learn and discover.
